Why an apprenticeship in financial planning I hear you ask? My journey started at the end of my Accounting degree. I was chuffed to have graduated… but what next? I began the tedious job application process, even applying for a job in insurance, but the interview ended fairly abruptly when I had to sell a rolling pin to the interviewer…
Then a friend suggested I apply for a job at Attivo Group. He told me about the career development, salary increases, the social life, and the company parties. It sounded too good to be true and so I applied for a role within the Income and Agency Team who reconcile the company’s inbound income.
The application process was straight-forward and I was ecstatic to be given an interview. I was greeted by a warm-hearted receptionist and my interviewer, the Income & Agency Manager made me feel at ease. I soon realised this was where I wanted to work…so I was delighted to be offered the job!
My friend (and now colleague) had been right about the development opportunities at Attivo Group, one of which is the Financial Adviser Apprenticeship: a structured training programme to achieve the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning in partnership with the University of Gloucestershire.
In addition to lectures on a Wednesday, our on-the-job training includes shadowing paraplanners and presenting in meetings, so we are gaining first-hand experience – all whilst being paid a full-time salary.
The support from experienced Financial Planners at Attivo Group has been fantastic – there is always someone to answer my questions about Capital Gains Tax or pensions, so a career in Financial Planning has never been so accessible!
